 Volunteering for Le Moulin

 
Throughout the year, especially the spring and summer months there are opportunities to stay and serve at Le Moulin as part of the volunteer team.
Areas of work include cooking, gardening, household and administration. Working here is a practice of Service; living and working in community, whilst serving and supporting others. You will have regular group and individual support from resident teacher Martin Aylward. The team work commitment is 6 hours per day with 2 days off per week, or 5 hours per day with 1 day off per week (we decide what will work depending on what your are doing) You would be expected to participate in the silent mornings and at least 2 meditation sittings each day.
Dana received from visitors during the season is shared between the team and the organizers at the end of the season.
Commitment to the volunteer team is usually from beginning of May until the end of August, but it may differ each year depending on what retreats we are offering. Throughout the rest of the year the time line would be different.Below are descriptions of the different positions as well as positions now open.

Kitchen team, 3 people who enjoy cooking and are able to  cook for large groups.
Gardener for the vegetable garden
Household person to manage and look after different areas of the household.
Administrator person to work in the office, answer emails, show people around.
Work yogis from May until August 2011.

Job descriptions:
Below are brief descriptions of the different jobs involved here. Please note that although you may have one particular job, you will also need to help out with some of the other jobs mentioned.

Kitchen Team
We need experienced cooks. During the busy spring summer season, we need minimum of 2/3  people to manage the kitchen. The work involves cooking 2 or 3 main meals per week, preparing breakfast and supper, compiling shopping lists and sometimes going shopping. You will also need to look after and keep the kitchen area clean. It is useful to have had cooking experience for 10- 60 people and to enjoy cooking. 

Garden manager
This includes arriving in the spring time and planting seeds, preparing and looking after the vegetable garden through out the season until the end of summer. Garden experience is useful but not essential.

Household manager
This job includes cleaning the communal areas, washing and drying bedding and checking and cleaning rooms after visitors have left and explaining jobs to visitors during the work period.

Administration manager
You will need to speak good English and French, and the job will include answering the telephone, emails, welcoming visitors and doing basic office duties.

Work yogis
Work yogis help out in any of the above positions for 3 hours of work per day, whilst paying a nominal daily rate of €15 if you are staying in your own tent or €25 if you are staying in a shared room. Single rooms are not available on this basis. If you are interested  Do not fill out a volunteer application form, fill out the normal Moulin booking form, mentioning on it that you would like to be a work yogi and we will contact you to say whether there is a place available or not.
We ask that you stay a minimum of 2 weeks and  maximum of 1 month.
